Even More Hiatus Hijinx
Monday, April 2nd, 2007As much as I hate to do it, I need to move Hate Song to indefinite hiatus status.
With my day job, freelance work and the other project that I’m working on, I just don’t have the time or energy to commit to the strip. I could force it, but that would make me resent the strip and I don’t want to do it if I’m not enjoying it — that’s not fair to either you or I.
You may also notice that I’ve left Boxcar Comics. This is nothing to do with them — I think that they’re all great guys. I’ve left because of this hiatus. I don’t want to take up space in a collective when I’m not producing. It’s not fair to the other members, nor is it fair to any potential comic/creator that could have the space that I am currently taking up.
The other project mentioned is a super hero book that I am trying to get published. The first issue is nearly done and I’ve just begun shopping it to publishers. I’m sure that it will be a little while before I hear anything, but I will keep you all posted.
I’ve added a notify list thing in the sidebar there to the left, add your email address and you’ll be on my mailing list so that I can notify you of when things start up again. Last thing I want is for people to have to keep checking in for nothing.
I’m out for now, but will hopefully return soon.

Good luck with the publishers, hope to see Hate Song back soon. Cheers for all the strips so far!

Fred you are a sorry bitch!
Oh wait, did I say that part out loud? We’re going to miss you. Please don’t turn this into a kind of Lesson is Learned… situation or somesuch unhappy bullshit!
April 2nd, 2007 at 3:33 pm
Aww, I understand what it’s like to be busy and low on time and energy… just enjoy a break from the commitment. And thanks for the mailing list thing, that will save me checking Hate Song twice a day like usual… although we still get guest strips, right? Right?
I’d offer to draw and write Hate Song for you, but my drawing is terrible and Lewis beating Orest to death over that myspace thing probably isn’t a direction you want it to go in.
Enjoy some nice relaxing free time

Hope the publishers shit glee kittens when they see your comic, my man. Good luck with the balancing act. We’ll be here when you get back.
April 2nd, 2007 at 9:18 pm
seriously, you cant take away a man’s addiction like this… not cold turkey.. please tell me you can at least write an occasional filth hole… please?
or am i gonna have to switch to some other drug? crack and heroin aint got nothing on the hilarity that spews from orest’s mouth and nipples! (and sometimes his finger)
anyways, good luck, hope everything works out for the best

Good luck in everything you do man. Your comics are some of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, and it’ll be a shame to not be able to see them (indefinitely) but there are other things to life and we can’t ignore that. Also good luck with getting the new comic published, I hope to see it in a shop near me soon!

Take your time man. We’ll all be here when you come back.
April 5th, 2007 at 6:21 am
Even if the strip isn’t updating for a while, let us know how things go from time to time so we’re sure you haven’t died or anything and that we’re not waiting in vain.
Best of luck with the whole “living” and “working” thing.

As sad as we shall all be to see Hatesong put on hold, I am damned thankful you made so many and congrats on that. It takes a lot of talent to keep people laughing for that long and we hope you come back soon. Sorry to sound like a soppy bitch soaked in their own tears trying to teach everyone a lesson on how life goes on, but hey, it felt like “one of those moments”
good luck on life there, fred.
(P.S. Hahahaha, you have to work. I love being a teenager. :D)

Hi. I found this comic by following a series of links from one webcomic to the other until i got here. I’m a big-time webcomic addict, although I’m mostly a closeted one so don’t tell anyone! Anyway, I read through the archives from strip one all the way to the end in a couple of days and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I am only sad that I reached the end so quickly. Time for me to follow a trail of links until I find another new comic to read. I don’t know if this comment will ever actually be read by the talented artist himself but just in case, I want to say thank you for the hours upon hours of entertainment. I work as a customer support rep. for an internet company and I must admit that many emails have gone unanswered for days because of this comic. It is a wonderful thing.
I hope to see more from this awesome guy. I will keep an eye out. There is much talent on the internet but even more garbage. It’s nice to find real talent that also matches my strange tastes. So keep on keeping on. Good luck with the future, the marriage, the work, and everything else in life.
With love,
M.E. (yes those are my real initials) aka super nerd girl

Peace and rest to your sick mind.
May 8th, 2007 at 11:07 pm
Damn. When this first appeared I was all “Oh, I guess Hatesong is gone for a couple of weeks, but it won’t be longer than that.”
Denial, apparently.
Well, all I can say is that I am missing my dose of Hatesong humour sorely. I hope you return soon, Fred, refreshed and less stressed.
I love hatesong, always will, always have.

Same here.
Hell, I would be happy with once a week updates to one of my favorite sites.
Maybe sometime soon his sched will be open enough to do just one a week.
Regardless, good luck fred.

June 26th, 2007 at 5:24 am
oi! no! wtf man, your giving up on something that people so clearly want, it may not be a huge fanbase, it may not make money, but youve started something you should be obligated to continue. the fact im writting this means you were making something entertaining enough to make at least one persons life slightly more endurable.. so what the hells going on man, ive been checking on your page forever to see if its updated, ive been reading for ages, and ive never commented until now. but im severly dissapointed. please come back
June 27th, 2007 at 8:58 pm
